DraftSail is designed to work locally. It does not require an account, includes no advertising SDK, and does not use cross-app tracking.
This Privacy Policy describes how DraftSail for iPhone and iPad (the “App”) handles information. “We,” “us,” and “our” refer to the App's developer, LIPEI ZHANG. This policy applies to the App, its support communications, and the DraftSail pages on this website.
Apple, file providers, email providers, websites, and destinations you choose have their own privacy practices. Their handling is governed by their policies, not this one.
When you import a file, the App may process the file bytes, display name, type, size, content hash, import and update times, folder placement, pinned state, recent activity, deleted state, thumbnails, layouts, layers, searchable drawing text, view state, measurement state, and drawing-health or dependency information. This processing is needed to provide the features you request and occurs in local app storage by default.
The App stores preferences and limited operational records on your device, such as presentation choices and recent failure categories. DraftSail's diagnostic design excludes filenames, file paths, drawing text, drawing coordinates, and drawing contents. Diagnostic reports remain local unless you deliberately share them.
If you email us, we receive the information you include, such as your email address, message, and any attachments. Do not send confidential drawings unless you are authorized and they are necessary for support.
The support and legal pages are hosted on GitHub Pages. Opening them in a browser sends ordinary web-request information, such as an IP address and browser information, to the hosting provider. GitHub may process this information to operate and secure its service under the GitHub General Privacy Statement. These static DraftSail pages do not embed advertising or analytics scripts. Opening a legal page does not upload your CAD drawing or local diagnostic report.
Apple may independently process App Store transactions, download history, device or operating-system diagnostics, and other platform information under Apple's policies and your settings. When you use the system Files picker or share sheet, the selected file provider or destination processes the information you choose to send.
The App has no account system and no advertising or third-party analytics SDK. It does not use data for cross-app tracking and does not intentionally transmit drawing contents, library history, precise location, contacts, photos, microphone recordings, or a persistent advertising identifier to us.
Local information is processed to import and organize files; render supported drawing content; provide search, layers, layouts, measurements, view restoration, Trash, and diagnostics; maintain security and reliability; and respond to actions you initiate. Support information is used to answer your request, investigate problems, prevent abuse, and comply with law.
Where applicable, these activities rely on performing the service you requested, our legitimate interest in securing and improving support, your consent for optional sharing, or compliance with legal obligations.
Deleting the App generally deletes its local container, subject to iOS behavior and any copies that you exported or stored elsewhere.
DraftSail uses platform protections and limits routine processing to the app container. No method of storage is completely secure, and malformed or hostile CAD files may create risk despite defensive validation. Keep iOS updated and import files only from sources you trust.
The App marks its managed drawing storage to be excluded from normal device backup. Keep authoritative source files or export important content yourself. DraftSail is not a backup service and cannot restore content after permanent deletion, app removal, device loss, or storage failure.
You can choose which files to import, whether to use a third-party file provider, whether to share a diagnostic report, and whether to contact support. You can delete drawings, empty Trash, clear local caches or diagnostics where controls are provided, or remove the App.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or obtain a copy of personal information that we hold about you, and to withdraw consent. Because the App's core data remains on your device and is not available to us, many requests can be completed directly in the App. For support communications we hold, contact us below. We may need to verify your request and may retain information where law permits or requires. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
The App is a general-purpose productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13 or the minimum age required in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect children's personal information through the App. A parent or guardian who believes a child sent information to support may contact us to request deletion.
The App's drawing data remains local by default. If you contact support, visit these pages, or choose an external service, the email, hosting, or file provider may process information in a country different from yours. Consult the provider's privacy policy for its processing locations and safeguards. We handle any information we receive subject to applicable data-protection requirements.
We may update this policy to reflect product, legal, or security changes. We will post the revised policy here and update the effective date. Material changes will receive additional notice when required.
