Terms of Use

Effective: October 9, 2026

These terms govern your use of DraftSail. Please read the drawing and measurement limitations carefully.

Important. DraftSail is a convenience viewer, not a calibrated surveying, engineering, construction-control, fabrication, or safety instrument. Rendering and measurements can be incomplete or inaccurate. Verify consequential information against the authoritative source and with a qualified professional.

1. Acceptance and eligibility

These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and LIPEI ZHANG (“Developer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) for DraftSail and related support pages (the “App”). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

You must be legally able to enter this agreement. If you use the App for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind it. A parent or guardian must authorize use where required for a minor.

2. The service and current capabilities

The App lets you import and organize supported CAD files, preview supported drawing content, inspect layers and layouts, search text, take convenience measurements, and view local diagnostics. Features, supported entities, and platform requirements may change.

Current format boundary: this release previews a limited subset of supported 2D ASCII DXF entities through its built-in preview engine. DWG files may be imported and identified, but production DWG rendering is not included in this version. The App does not edit source drawing geometry. Unsupported, malformed, encrypted, externally referenced, very large, unitless, or otherwise complex files may be rejected, incomplete, or displayed differently from the authoring system.

3. Limited license

Subject to these Terms and the applicable App Store rules, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, revocable license to install and use the App on Apple-branded devices you own or control, including permitted Family Sharing or volume-purchase use. No ownership interest in the App is transferred.

4. Your files and content

You retain your rights in files you import. You are responsible for having permission to possess, process, display, export, and share them, and for complying with confidentiality, intellectual-property, export-control, employment, and data-protection duties. We do not claim ownership of your drawings.

The App processes files locally by default. You authorize the technical copying, indexing, thumbnailing, parsing, and storage necessary to provide actions you request. When you share or export, you choose the recipient and are responsible for that disclosure.

5. Local storage, Trash, and backups

The App is local-first and does not provide an account or hosted backup service. Managed drawing storage is excluded from normal device backup. Keep authoritative originals and your own backups. Deleting the App, permanently emptying Trash, device failure, operating-system action, or storage corruption may make data unrecoverable. Items in Trash may be automatically removed after 30 days.

6. Acceptable use

You may not:

7. Third-party services and Apple terms

The Files picker, share sheet, App Store, operating system, and any provider or destination you select are third-party services governed by their own terms. We are not responsible for their availability or conduct.

If you obtained the App from Apple's App Store, these Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support. If the App fails to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple may refund the purchase price, if any, to the maximum extent permitted by the App Store rules; Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing claims relating to the App, including product liability, legal compliance, and intellectual-property claims, subject to these Terms. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them. You must also comply with the Apple Media Services Terms and applicable usage rules.

8. Intellectual property and feedback

The App, software, interface, documentation, branding, and all related rights other than your content belong to us or our licensors. If you send suggestions, you permit us to use them without restriction or payment, provided we do not identify you publicly without permission.

9. Disclaimers

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT EXPRESS OR IMPLIED WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AVAILABILITY, OR ERROR-FREE OPERATION. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT A FILE WILL OPEN, THAT ALL ENTITIES OR DEPENDENCIES WILL APPEAR, OR THAT DISPLAYED COORDINATES, UNITS, SCALE, DISTANCES, ANGLES, AREAS, OR PERIMETERS ARE COMPLETE OR CORRECT.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions. Nothing in these Terms limits non-waivable consumer rights.

10. Limitation of liability and indemnity

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE AND OUR LICENSORS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES; LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, BUSINESS, SAVINGS, OR GOODWILL; OR COSTS ARISING FROM RELIANCE ON DRAWING OUTPUT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP DURING THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR US$50.

You agree to defend and indemnify us from third-party claims arising from your files, unlawful use, or breach of these Terms, except to the extent caused by our misconduct. This duty does not apply where prohibited by consumer law.

11. Updates, suspension, and termination

We may provide updates, change features, stop supporting an operating-system version, or discontinue the App. We may suspend access for material misuse or legal and security reasons. You may end these Terms by stopping use and deleting the App. Sections that by nature should survive—including ownership, disclaimers, liability, and general provisions—continue after termination.

12. General terms

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about the App and replace earlier statements on that subject. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum necessary and the rest remains effective. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a business transfer.

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable at the Developer's principal place of business, excluding conflict-of-law rules, except that mandatory consumer protections and forums in your place of residence continue to apply. Before filing a dispute, please contact us and allow a reasonable opportunity to resolve it informally.

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version and effective date. Where required, material changes will receive additional notice. Continued use after the change becomes effective constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law.
